The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 “This is the fire, which you used to deny!” 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
