The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 The roof raised high, 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
