The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink). 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
