The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the mount 1 And the Book written 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 By the House Frequented. 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
