Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or do they say: A poet, we wait for him the evil accidents of time. 30 Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you' 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 Or do they say: "He himself has composed this [message]"? Nay, but they are not willing to believe! 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Have they not been created by aught, or are they the creators? 35 Created they the heavens and the earth! Aye! they will not be convinced. 36 Are with them the treasures of thy Lord! or are they the dispensers? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Hath He daughters and ye sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are over-burdened by debt? 40 Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down? 41 Or do they want to stage a deception? -- Then only those who do not believe will be the ones who will be tricked. 42 Or, do they have a god, other than Allah? Exaltations to Allah above that which they associate! 43 And if they were to see a fragment of the heaven falling, they would say: A heap of clouds. 44 So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. 45 when their stratagem shall be of no avail to them, nor shall they be succoured. 46 The unjust will suffer other torments besides this but most of them do not know. 47 And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise, 48 And in the night also hallow Him, and at the setting of the stars. 49
