The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the declining star, 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 This is naught but a revelation revealed, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The heart [of the Prophet] did not misconstrue what he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 Near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha [lote-tree of the utmost boundary (beyond which none can pass)], 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all the Hereafter and this world. 25
