The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And he is in the highest part of the horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 His sight did not waver nor was it unduly bold. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from their Lord hath come unto them. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
