The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the star of the pleiades when it has dipped 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest! 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 And Manat (another idol of the pagan Arabs), the other third? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
