The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it sets: 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 This is nothing but a revelation that is conveyed to him, 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 And another, the third (goddess), Manat? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That indeed is a division unfair! 22 These are nothing but names that you and your forefathers have invented, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They are merely following their conjectures and their carnal desires although guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
