The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 Your companion did not err, nor did he go astray. 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 then came down close 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
