The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them. 81 They would carve secure houses out of the mountains. 82 An explosion struck them in the morning. 83 And all that they had done (for security) availed them nothing. 84 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is in between them except with Truth. Surely the Hour will come. So, (O Muhammad), do graciously overlook them (despite their misdeeds). 85 Surely your Lord is the Creator of all things, the Knowing. 86 And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the grand Quran. 87 Do not direct your eyes towards the things We have given to some of their couples to enjoy, and do not at all grieve because of them, and take the Muslims within the folds of your mercy. 88 and say: "Behold, I am indeed the plain warner [promised by God]! 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 and also divided the Quran believing in some parts and rejecting others. 91 Now by thy Lord, We shall surely question them all together 92 For that which they have been working. 93 Proclaim openly what you are commanded, and avoid the polytheists. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 Who set some other god along with Allah. But they will come to know. 96 And assuredly We know that thou straitenest thy breast by that which they say. 97 But glorify your Lord with His praise, and prostrate yourself: 98 And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death). 99
