(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 It is He who turned upside down the people of Lot 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
