Did you (O Muhammad SAW) observe him who turned away (from Islam). 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 That no soul laden bears the load of another, 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 And that it is He Who has created the two pairs, male and female? 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
