Seest thou one who turns back, 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort, 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 and that with thy Sustainer is the beginning and the end [of all that exists]; 42 And that it is He (Allah) Who makes (whom He wills) laugh, and makes (whom He wills) weep; 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 and covered them with torment. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And you laugh at it and weep not, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
