The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing. 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 Surely We sent on them a tornado in a day of bitter ill-luck 19 plucking up men as if they were stumps of uprooted palm-trees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
