The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And We opened up the springs of the earth; and the waters met for a decreed end. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
