The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And withal, there has come unto them many a tiding that should have restrained [their arrogance]: 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Moving forward under Our eyes: a requital for him who had been rejected. 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 But how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning? 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
