The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and made the earth to gush with fountains, and the waters met for a matter decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 that ran on under Our Eyes, a recompense for him because he had been disbelieved. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Plucking out men as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground). 20 How terrible was Our torment and the result of (their disregard) of Our warning. 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
