The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ There belied before them the people of Nuh. So they belied Our bondman and said: a madman; and moreover he was reproven. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 We let loose against them a violent roaring wind on a day of ill omen, continuous, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
