The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 They will hasten forward to the caller, gazes fixed. And the unbelievers will say: "This is the day of untold woe." 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We bore him on that which was made of planks and nails 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 Yea, how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 21 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will pay heed? 22
