(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her). 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The people of Lot denied the warning. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 and early in the morning the punishment decreed overtook them -- 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
