The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 and said, 'What, shall we follow a mortal, one out of ourselves? Then indeed we should be in error and insanity! 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience! 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 How terrible was My punishment and warning. 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The people of Lot cried lies to the warnings. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a favour from Us. Thus We recompense him who giveth thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
