The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Has the message been sent down upon him from among us? Rather, he is an insolent liar." 25 Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih (Saleh)], and be patient! 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie. 33 Indeed We sent a shower of stones upon them, except the family of Lut; We rescued them before dawn. 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
