The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 They said, "Should we follow only one person among us. We shall be clearly in error and in trouble (if we do so). 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 Tell them that the water is to be apportioned between them (and her); and every turn of drinking will be fixed (for each)." 28 But they summoned their [boldest] companion, and he ventured [upon the evil deed,] and cruelly slaughtered [the animal]: 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 32 The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings! 36 and even demanded that he give up his guests [to them]: whereupon We deprived them of their sight [and thus told them, as it were]: "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 37 And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment. 38 So taste My punishment and warning. 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
