The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ AR-RAHMAN 1 Hath taught the Qur'an. 2 He created man, 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 21 There come forth from them pearls, both large and small. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
