Nay, by the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
