The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 has taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 13 He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. 14 and He created the jinns from a flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has set the two oceans in motion, converging together. 19 Between them is a barrier [so] neither of them transgresses. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 23 His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains. 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
