The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Allah, the Most Gracious 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 Created man, 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 and weigh with justice, and skimp not in the Balance.) 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 [He is] the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunrise, and the Sustainer of the two farthest points of sunset. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 With an interstice between them which they cannot cross. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
