The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And have made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
