The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
