The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
