The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
