The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
