The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
