The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
