The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
