The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And shade extended 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
