The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
