The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
