The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
