The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
