The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
