The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
