The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And spreading shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
