The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
