The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
