The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
