The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
