A multitude from the ancients. 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 They will live amid the scorching, 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 Before they lived at ease, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then you, the erring ones and those that gave the lie to the Truth, 51 you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum. 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels. 55 Such will be their welcome on the Day of Judgement. 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Have you thought about what (sperm) you ejaculate? 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 in replacing you with another creation like you, changing you into a form which you do not know. 61 You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember? 62 And have you seen that [seed] which you sow? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament, 65 “We have been penalised; 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Have you considered the water you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Wherefore hallow thou the name of thy Lord, the Mighty. 74
