A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be! 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Which is neither cool nor is for respect. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then you, the erring and the deniers, 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 You shall fill your bellies with it, 53 and shall drink boiling water on top of that. 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 We have created you: why then do you not accept the truth? 57 Did you ever consider the sperm that you emit? 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, 60 in replacing you with another creation like you, changing you into a form which you do not know. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Do you give it its increase, or are We the giver? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 Have you ever considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 If We so pleased, We certainly could make it salty. Why, then, are you not grateful? 70 Have you thought about the fire you kindle? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74
